Obituary for Lydia Salzano (Caetano)

Lydia Salzano, 84, of Belleville, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Born in Newark, NJ,
Lydia was the daughter of the late Manuel and Celeste (Dos Santos) Caetano. She grew up in
Newark, graduated from Newark Arts High School, married on Halloween in 1964 and moved to
Belleville. Through the years Lydia was involved in many organizations for the Township of
Belleville. She was a district leader, former president of the Michael V. Marotti Civic Association,
a member of the Silver Lake Civic Association and a volunteer for the Clara Maass Auxiliary.
She retired as the administrative assistant for St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, in
Belleville, of which she was a parishioner for many decades. She was a Eucharistic Minister and
a member of the Rosary Society as well as many other committees, for the church, over the
years.

Lydia is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ralph Salzano, her son Michael Salzano
and his wife Kathleen, her daughter Lorraine Salzano, her three grandchildren Michael Jr.,
Adriana and Angelina, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday, February 5, 2024, at 10am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral
Home,(www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley, NJ.
The funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am at St. Anthony of Padua Roman
Catholic Church, Belleville.
The entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, February 4th from 2-6pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Lydia’s
name would be appreciated
