Obituary for Mario S. Tattoli

Loving Husband, Father, Brother, and Grandfather

Mario S. Tattoli, 86, of Lords Valley, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Born in Hoboken, NJ, Mario was the son of the late Corrado and Francesca (DeRobertis) Tattoli. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from a job he loved at DeSaussure Equipment Co. in Maywood, NJ.

Mario is survived by his wife Judith (Slader) Tattoli, daughters Theresa McHugh and her husband Thomas, Catherine Tattoli Calabria and her husband Joseph, and Patricia Gerhardt and her husband Robert, and his 4 beloved grandchildren Joseph Calabria and his wife Gabriella, Emily Calabria, Jessica Gerhardt, and Andrew Gerhardt. His sisters Angela Tattoli, Rose McCullough, Anna Mannino, Mary Kennell, and brother Carl Tattoli, survive him. He is predeceased by his brothers Frank, Sam, and Nicholas Tattoli and sisters Lena Siple and Frances Balkenende, and his best friend and brother-in-law Bill Balkenende.

Mario and Judy were married for 63 loving years. After raising their family, they continued to make wonderful memories; a highlight that they will never forget is their 3-week Mediterranean cruise. He relished any opportunity to spend time with his family and particularly enjoyed time spent at Fat Tat’s. His pride and joy were his three daughters until his four grandchildren stole the show.

The list of skills he had are far too many to name here. He had a workshop that would make Bob Vila envious. He never shied away from a project and was always willing to help a family member or friend, all he asked for in return was a cold beer and lively conversation filled with laughter and banter when the job was done.

Now he will join his best buddy, Bill, and a list of others where the drinks are free, and the tap never runs dry. Let’s raise a glass to a man who was always the life of the party and the last to leave!

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct 2nd from 2 – 6pm.

The funeral will be on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 10:30am at Holy Family Church, Nutley, however, all are welcome to pay their final respects at 9:30am at S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
