Marjorie E. Schmersahl Stapf passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Frances and Millie (DeVausney) Schmersahl. “Margie” spent most of her life in Nutley New Jersey before moving Montville NJ. Watching professional and college football, Major League baseball, and college basketball was her #1 passion. She loved cheering on her favorite teams and critiquing coaching decisions. Margie was witty, fun, independent, and gracious.
She is survived by her niece, Barbra Colandreo of New Oxford PA; nephews, James Schmersahl (Carmen), Frank Schmersahl (Carolyn), William Schmersahl (MariBeth); and numerous great, great great, and great great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, George W Schmersahl and sister-in-law, Carolyn Schmersahl of Frederick MD; husband, Karl W. Stapf; and special friends “Duke” Werner K. Hoeckele ; and Anthony Colandreo of Frederick MD.
She will be greatly missed by her neighbors at Longview, friends at the Montville Senior Center, and her friend and helper, Dave Siegel.

There will be no viewing, however friends and family are invited to attend graveside services at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM.
