Loving Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Mary (Rose) DiMeola, 83, of Caldwell, passed away on April 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving children. Born in Newark, NJ, Rose was a long time resident of Nutley and Bloomfield prior to moving to Caldwell. Rose was the daughter of the late Antonio and Francesca (Strillacci) Palermo. She was predeceased by her loving husband Vito, her brothers Michael and Joseph Palermo, and her dear sisters Phyllis Rivera and Madeline Delli Santi. Rose is survived by her five loving children, Vito DiMeola and his husband Luis, Patrick DiMeola and his wife Theresa, Phyllis Ann Leahy and her husband Billy, Donna Giannetta and her husband Michael, Rosemarie Cardona and her husband Emil, her brother Sam Palermo and his wife Judy along with many loving nieces and nephews. She was a loving, caring and devoted grandmother to Nicole and Antonio DiMeola, Michael Jr. and Joseph Giannetta and Olivia, Alyssa and Angelina Cardona.

Although Mary was her birth name, she was well known and loved by all as “Rose” or “Mama Rose”. She was a natural, loving, devoted mother and grandmother. She was a selfless giver who dedicated her life to helping others. She cared for her loving husband in his time of illness for many years. After his passing, she continued to volunteer and give her time to help those in need. She also dedicated her time to care for her loving grandchildren for whom she so much loved, cherished and adored. The most important thing in her life was her family and her faith in God.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 8:30am from S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Avenue, Bloomfield at 9:30am.

The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 4:30pm – 8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or to Star 99.1 which were two of Rose’s favorite charities.
