Mildred C. (Carmela) Bengivengo, 89, formerly of Belleville, passed away on Sunday July 5, 2020. Born in Newark, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Salvatore) Bengivengo. Mildred lived in Bloomfield before coming to Belleville in 1969. She was trained and worked as a hairdresser and later worked as an insurance claims representative for many years before retiring. Mildred avidly participated in a cancer support group at Mountainside Hospital, that met regularly to knit and crochet. She loved making baby blankets and other knitted items. Along with her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her brother, Joseph, who was killed in action during the World War II and her brother Louis.
Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Thursday July 9 from 10:30 to 11:30 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 11:45 followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Bloomfield.
