Obituary for Nancy LaBruzza

Beloved Sister and Aunt
Nancy LaBruzza, 95 of Nutley, passed away on October 5, 2020. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she moved to Pompton Plains in 2005. The daughter of the late Vincent and Maria (Scrudato) LaBruzza. Nancy worked as the Business Administrator at the Nutley Public Library for over 35 years. She was a respected employee in Nutley and also served as the Acting Library Director of the Nutley Library multiple times. She volunteered her time to the Mattia Scholarship Fund, The Friends of the Nutley Library and served as VP of the National Federation of Business and Professional Woman’s Clubs, Bloomfield, NJ. In addition, she was proud to be a contributor of the renovations and design of the Nutley Library.

She was a childhood friend of Carmen Orechio and worked part time for him after her retirement. She studied medical technology to help the war effort in 1944 then attended Rutgers University, Newark as an English major.

She was proud of her Italian heritage, and she was loving and generous to her nieces and nephews through the years.

Nancy is survived by her brother Salvatore LaBruzza, and was pre-deceased by her sisters Maria DeBendetto, Palma LaBruzza, her brothers Frank, Joseph, Vincent, and Gabriel LaBruzza. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday October 9, 2020 at 9:30am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church at 10:30am

The interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 5-7pm.
