Nicholas R. Restaino (Nicky Rocco), 94 of Nutley, passed away of natural causes on Monday, April 6, 2020. Born in Newark, the son of the late Rocco and Rose (Farese) Restaino. Nick retired as the owner of a Pepperidge Farm bread franchise. He previously worked as a manager of Food Fair supermarkets. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He was a life-long fan of the New York Yankees. He was a great ball player in his own right who played on the Nutley Seniors when he was in his 70's. He enjoyed bowling, playing poker and trips to Atlantic City. He loved to cook and made a delicious Sunday gravy and Scallops & Asparagus Alfredo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Margherita (Russo) Restaino, his daughters Lorraine Restaino and Kathy Frangoulis (John), three grandchildren Kosta (Nicole), Nicholas (Lisett) and Alexandra, and four great grandchildren Sofia, Jonathan (JJ), Nathaniel (Nate) and Nicholas. Along with his parents, Nick was predeceased by his brother Vito and his son Nicholas Restaino, Jr. They were affectionately known as Big Nick and Little Nick. Nick was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the Patriarch of the family who made a difference in all our lives. We will miss him beyond words can ever express. Rest In Peace reunited forever with your son.
There will be a mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church and a celebration of Nick's life at a future date.
