Loving Wife, Mother, & Grandmother
Norma Amato, 85 of Bloomfield passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at her home. Born in Newark, the daughter of Giovanni and Sabina (DeMeo) Mele, she lived in Belleville prior to moving to Bloomfield 5 years ago. Prior to her retirement, Norma was the Branch Officer at First DeWitt Savings in Bloomfield. She was a member of the Belleville Rotary, the St. Thomas September Club, the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Family Church in Nutley and St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield. She was also a Eucharistic minister at Holy Family Church and a volunteer at the SYA in Nutley.
The beloved wife of the late Donald Amato, she is survived by her children, Maryanne Amato-Ferri and her husband, Joseph, Joseph Amato and his wife, Doris and Steven Amato and his wife, Jenny; 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Jordyn, Nicole, Jessie and Anthony and her sister, Martha Brucata. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Nell, Lena, Jean, Antoinette and Rose and her brothers, Nicholas, Mattia, Michael and John.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley at 10:30 a.m.
The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Special Young Adults, 83 N Franklin Ave, Nutley, NJ 07110 would be appreciated.
