Patricia R. Fields, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday June 25, 2020.
Born in Newark, she was raised in Belleville and lived most of her life there until relocating to Monroe Township in 2019. Patricia was the daughter of the late Patrick and Florence (Mac Donald) Higgins and was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.
Patricia is survived by her beloved husband, Mel E. Fields, her daughters, Erin M. Fields and husband, Jeff Michalowski, Allison M. Healy and husband, James and her grandchildren, James “Baby Jim” and Fiona Barbara. She was the dear sister of Carol Higgins, Patrick Higgins, Kathleen Kmetz and the late William and Donald Wilson and Barbara Aughenbaugh; and dearly loved aunt of Janice, James, Ethan and Danny.
Patty, as she was known to family and friends, loved her garden and her pond. She loved floating in the pool on a hot summer day, watching the Yankees play, cold beer and the Beatles (especially Ringo Starr). Patty had an infectious spirit and witty charm that will be missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Friday July 3 at 10:30 am followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation at the funeral home will be limited to 25 persons at any time and will be held on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
