Obituary for Patricia A. Nesta (Sirchio)

January 9, 1941 to June 16, 2021

Patricia “Patty” Nesta, 80, passed through the gates of heaven on June 16, 2021. Patty was born in Newark, NJ to the late Marigo and Edward Sirchio. She was a graduate of Barringer High School. After marrying her beloved husband, Joe; they moved to Bloomfield where they raised their family and lived out the rest of their lives.

Her greatest joy and source of pride was her family. She was a loving mom to three children: Joseph Jr. and former wife Stacy, Julianne Ruopp and husband Alan, and Jamee and wife Tara. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Steven Sklaver and wife Katherine, Robert Sklaver and wife Saya, Joey Nesta, Kayla and Nicole Ruopp, Dylan and Cassie Nesta and great-grandchildren Caden and Liam. She shared a close bond with her large extended family including siblings Fred Racioppi, Barbara Christopher and husband Rocky, Donna DeRosa and husband Vinnie, Ed Sirchio and wife Jackie, Mike Sirchio and wife Joanne, and Patsy Caravella. Her many nieces and nephews also loved Aunt Patty dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband of 50 years Joseph Sr., her sister Mary (Pinky) Racioppi, sister-in-law Kathy Sirchio, and nieces Laurie and Michele Sirchio.

There will be a committal service at Glendale Cemetery and Mausoleum on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11:30am.

Her children want to share that Patty loved many things, but she was never a fan of the traditional funeral. She insisted that upon her death she wanted to be celebrated and not mourned. She asked that you please refrain from sending flowers and for those of you attending her memorial, please wear cheerful colors. Please honor her memory by hugging your loved ones tighter, smiling bigger, laughing harder, and by eating something sweet. Mom lived simply but loved big. She was one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed.
