“Patsy “Bill” Grande, Devoted husband; WWII Navy Veteran”

Patsy W. Grande, 92 of Nutley, passed away on Thursday April 9, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. Known as Bill to his family and friends, Patsy was born and raised in Newark, the son of the late Anthony and Mildred (Caproni) Grande. Patsy lived in Nutley for 58 years with the love of his life and wife of 68 years, Janet (Itzel) Grande. Patsy was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, local 102 and a life-long animal lover. He was also a proud U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the destroyers USS Floyd B. Parks (DD-884) and USS Orleck (DD-886). Patsy is survived by his beloved wife, Janet, his devoted cat George, his niece Nancy and her husband, Rolf, his nephew Joseph and his wife, Maria, his nephew Bill and his wife Trish, his nephew Anthony, his great nephews, Chris and Anthony and his great nieces Corinne, Eileen and Grace. He was predeceased by his brothers, George Grande and his twin, Anthony Grande. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the help and kindness of his incredible neighbors and to the staff at Clara Maas.
Services and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington will be private. A memorial service celebrating Patsy’s life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to People for Animals ( Condolences may be left at

I was so saddened to see this news. I knew Patsy from the bank. He always spoke of Janet with such sweetness. May he rest in peace Prayers and condolences to the family at this difficult time.
