Mascolo, Paul, age 73, of Nutley passed away on September 18th at home surrounded by his family.
Growing up in Bloomfield he moved to Nutley in 1977.
Paul joined the Nutley Police department in 1972 where he rose to the rank of Deputy Chief in 2004. After retiring in 2012 he returned as a Special Officer until July 2019, totaling 47 years as a respected police officer. He attended 181st session the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA in 1995 and was a member of the Nutley PBA Local 33.
He was an avid runner, amateur radio operator, fanatical sports car enthusiast, and a lover of animals.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Paul and Rose (née Berardi) Mascolo. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Ellen (Vander Waag), his two beloved daughters, Tracie Mascolo of Nutley and Christie Mascolo and her husband Brian Hirak, of Colorado. He is also survived by his brother and best friend Phillip Mascolo, of Bloomfield.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Paul’s visitation on Monday September 21, 2020 between the hours of 2 pm and 6 pm at S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St, Nutley. Father John Dobrosky will celebrate Paul’s life with a Catholic service at the funeral home at 5pm.
Paul will be entombed on Tuesday at 11 am at the Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ.
