Peter Henry Sorensen, 83, of Nutley, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2020. He was born on November 10,1936 to Henry & Rita Sorensen. Peter is survived by his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Patricia Harvey (Pat), and their 4 children: daughter Susan Sorensen, husband Peter Maher; and son David Sorensen, wife Sarah(Alden); daughter Nancy Sorensen Croft, husband David Croft; & son Charley Sorensen. He loved & enjoyed his 9 grandchildren; Peter (PJ), Ryan Elizabeth, Jack, Hunter, Taylor, Madison, Beth, Glenny & Charlotte.

Peter also leaves behind his sister Linda, her husband George Long & sister in law Judy Sorensen, & brother in law Roger Thompson, & many adored nieces & nephews. Peter is predeceased by his brother & best friend, Clark Sorensen, his sister Wendy Sorensen & sister in law Neta Thompson.

Peter was in the Army National Guard for 7 years & then served actively in Germany for 2 more years. He returned home, met & married the love of his life. His career was as a Senior Lab Technician for Hoffmann La Roche for 28 years, retiring in 1995.

Peter & Pat loved to travel, especially long roads trips, as well as to Europe. They also spent every summer since 1975 at his favorite place to vacation with family, Small Point, Maine. Peter was an avid NY Giants Fan and went to many games with his friends and family. He read extensively about WWII, enjoyed doing puzzles, seeing Broadway shows & was a good bridge player.

His favorite thing, aside from his family, was being ‘Santa’. What started as a family tradition in 1995, evolved into him portraying ‘Santa’ for Nutley Rotary and the town of Nutley over several years. He didn’t even need to stuff his belly or whiten his beard. He truly loved as the children whispered their Christmas wishes they often tugged on his authentic whiskers. RIP to our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, Pepa, Poppy and Santa.
Go Giants!
