Obituary for Rene Daniel Knowles Sr.
Rene Daniel Knowles, Sr., 70 of Belleville, passed away on Tuesday February 23, 2021. Born in St. Albans, New York, he was the son of the late Guy Allen and Stephanie (Lopez) Knowles. Rene lived in Newark before coming to Belleville 26 years ago and was the shop steward of shipping and receiving at NJIT in Newark. Mr. Knowles was also a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and dear brother and friend.
Rene is survived by his beloved wife, Elena (Jimenez) Knowles, his children, Rene Knowles, Jr. and his wife, Catherine, Steven Knowles and his wife, Leann, Joseph Knowles, and Robert Patrick Knowles. He was predeceased by his son, Jason Knowles. He also leaves his grandchildren, Matthew, Jorge, Kaley, Darren, Brandon, Rylee, William, Nathaniel, and his great granddaughter Rosie. Rene was the brother of Allen, Guy, James, Roque, Sebastian, Rosemary, Patricia, and the late Johnny.
Relatives and friends will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley on Wednesday, March 3rd from 3:00-5:00 pm. A service will also be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 pm. Cremation will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held afterwards at the American Legion Post 105, 621 Washington Ave., Belleville from 5:30-7:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rene may be made to American Legion Post 105.
