Obituary for Richard G. Malone

Sign Language instructor, U.S. Army veteran, beloved brother & uncle

Richard G. Malone, 86 passed away on Sunday April 25, 2021. Born in Orange, he was the son of the late Dominick and Fannie (Valvano) Malone. Richard lived in Newark for many years before moving to Nutley. He was a graduate of Barringer High School and Upsala College. Richard worked as an audio-visual technician and an American Sign Language instructor at Montclair State University before retiring in 2000 and was also a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his nephew, Robert Malone and wife, Andrea and his great niece, Alexa, his niece Cheryl Patania and husband James, and great nephew and great niece, James and Rayana, his sister-in-law Marge Malone and her husband Bernie McMillan. Along with the parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother Ray and his nephew Michael.

Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Friday April 30 from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Nutley on Friday at 11:00 am followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Bloomfield.
