Obituary for Robert P. Johnson

Loving Husband, Brother & Uncle

Robert P. Johnson, 91 of Belleville passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019. Born in Newark to the late Valentine and Margaret (Gillum) Johnson, he lived in Newark before moving to Belleville more than 65 years ago. Robert was a Korean War Combat Veteran of the Army where he received two bronze stars.
He retired as a Supervisor at Wallace and Tiernan and was an active member of the VFW#493, Old Guard, DAV in Belleville, VFW#5010 in Freeland PA, Belleville Senior Citizens Club, and was a Bingo Caller for Bellevile Seniors Club. Robert also loved to play poker and checkers.

The beloved husband of the late Margaret (McNulty) Johnson, he is survived by his sister Viola M. Francis, and many loving nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and his wife, Robert was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 9:30 am from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church in Belleville at 10:30 am

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m.

Nutley Old Guard Service Friday at 4:30 pm.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the McNulty Funeral Home, 494 E. Butler Drive, Freeland, PA 18224 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (www.mcnultyfuneral.com)

The interment with military honors will immediately follow at St. Anne’s Parish Cemetery in Freeland, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Prevent Cancer Foundation, 1600 Duke Street, Suite 500, Alexandria, VA 22134 (www.preventcancer.org) or the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW.org) would be preferred.
