Obituary for Ronald F. Hoelzel

Ronald F. Hoelzel, 84 of Howell and formerly of Nutley, passed away on Tuesday November 10, 2020. Born in Newark he was the son of the late Ronald and Margaret (Sallo) Hoelzel. Ron lived in Nutley for many years and in Wallington before coming to Howell a year and half ago. Mr. Hoelzel was employed with P.S.E & G in Newark for 42 years, retiring as a construction supervisor. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1956 to 1962. He was stationed in Gmund, Germany as a finance clerk and was promoted to Corporal 18 months into his enlistment. He was an avid bingo player and member of the P.S.E. & G employees bowling league. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Teresa (Piwowarski) Hoelzel his brother, Edward and his sister, Margaret Stevens, he is survived by his devoted children. Daughters Catherine Wiedmann and her husband, Ricky, Patricia Kartelias and her husband, Bill, Natalie Gildea and her husband, Jim and his son, Ronald Hoelzel, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well and many cherished, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ron also leaves his sister Mary Devitt and her husband, John.
Ron was an avid Yankees, Giants and Rangers fan, therefore as a tribute to Ron, his family requests that visitors wear an article of clothing honoring their favorite sports team.

Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Saturday November 14 at 9:30 am.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 10:30 am. Cremation will be private.

Visitors are invited to a walk-through visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 3-7 pm.
