Obituary for Rosemarie De Gregorio (Calderone)

Rosemarie De Gregorio, 96, formerly of Nutley, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, in Southern Pines, NC.

Rosemarie De Gregorio was born on October 17, 1925, to Peter and Cecilia Calderone in Jersey City, NJ. Her family later moved to Pennsylvania where she graduated form Forty Fort High School. There after she worked for Bell Telephone in Newark, NJ where she met her husband, Vincent De Gregorio. They were married at St. Rosa Lima Church.

Rosemarie had a long career as a supervisor in communications with AT&T Long Lines in New York City culminating her career at the World Trade Center, NY. After he retirement, Rosemarie worked part time at Hoffman La Roche, in Nutley, volunteered for the Nutley Chapter of the American Red Cross, and Mountainside Hospital, in Glen Ridge, NJ, and she was a member of the Nutley Woman’s Club. She then moved to Southern Pines, NC and resided in Penick Village.

Rosemarie felt fortunate to have enjoyed traveling around the world while she was “still able”. She enjoyed her flowers, being out in nature, and her daily walks through the beautiful Nutley Parks. She was well known for being an amazing cook and baker.

Rosemarie was a beloved wife and mother. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Granito and son in law James Granito of Southern Pines, NC, her son Mark De Gregorio of Loveland, CO, an several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased in death by her husband of 40 years, Vincent De Gregorio, and her brother John Calderone of Hollister, CA.

Visiting will be on Friday, June 17, 2022, at S.W. Brown and Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre Street, Nutley, NJ, at 9:30am. There will be a service at 10:00am at the funeral home, followed by Inurnment,11:00am at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, First Health Hospice Foundation 251 Camp Ground Road, West End, NC 27376 or the Nutley Family Service Bureau.
