SALVATORE W. ONOVE, 96
A Devoted servant to the Lord, Jesus Christ
Salvatore Onove, 96 years old, was called to glory on august 21, 2022. Sal was born in Newark and moved to Bloomfield at an early age. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and was graduated from lafayette college where he served as the treasurer of the phi chapter of the sigma chi fraternity. He was the manager of marketing services at lehn & fink products in Montvale, NJ for 28 years before retiring. Prior to this, he worked in the production control and planning department at the Lionel Corporation for 15 years. Sal was very active serving his Lord, Jesus Christ, as an adult bible class teacher, a deacon, an elder and the clerk of session in the church of our saviour.
Sal had many hobbies including amatuer coin collecting, lionel trains, and gardening. He was also the proud author of 2 poetry books.
He was the husband of the late Gretta (nee knott), father of Daniel (Donna) and Barbara, grandfather of Daniel ii, Nicholas, Ryan, Tyler and Matthew, and the brother of the late James N. Onove, Jr.
