Obituary for Salvatore V. Vitiello

Salvatore Victor Vitiello, 74 of Edison and formerly of Belleville, passed away on Saturday August 28, 2021. Born in Newark, on July 19, 1947, he was the son of the late Vito and Jennie (Rizzo) Vitiello. Sal began his career with the Essex County Sheriff's Department in 1971. He was hired by the Superior Court of N.J., Essex Vicinage Probation Division in 1973, retiring after 35 years as a Vicinage Assistant Chief Probation Officer. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and maintained great friendships with his fraternity brothers throughout his life. Sal received a Master of Arts Degree in Social Sciences from Montclair State University. He later received his Real Estate Broker's License in 1986 and went on to own, rent and manage properties for over 40 years.

Sal was a talented artist, and loved to fish and golf, but most of all he loved spending time with his family on the beaches of LBI.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marianne (Salvato) Vitiello, his loving daughters, Melanie Klastava and her husband, Michael, and Kristen Wahler and her husband, Paul. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Amanda (15), Luke (12), Victoria (8) and Olivia (6) and many cherished family members and dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his dear brother, Charlie Vitiello.

Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Wednesday September 1 from 3-7 pm. Visitors will return to S.W. Brown on Thursday September at 9:00am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley, N.J. 07110 at 10:00 am, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
