Obituary for Sybil Cerligione (Taylor)

Sybil Cerligione, 92 of Belleville, passed away on Friday February 18, 2022. Born and raised in Newark, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Goldberg) Taylor. Sybil came to Belleville in 1962 and was a devoted wife and mother and loving grandmother, great grandmother and devoted sister.

She loved being around her family, reading the newspaper, watching old movies and game shows, looking at the weekly store coupons and making envelopes for everyone in the family. She had a quirky sense of humor and had the ability to laugh at herself. She would call things by the wrong name, and our family started calling them Sybilisms. She was truly one of a kind who made everyone laugh and smile.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Carmen “Moose” Cerligione Jr., her son, Richard Cerligione and her daughter, Judy Disporto and husband Paul, Sybil leaves her sons, James Cerligione and Carmen Cerligione III, her daughter, Lisa Girimonte and husband, Mark and her grandchildren, Danielle Disporto, Deanna Macaluso and husband, James, Paul Disporto Jr., Rebecca and Rachel Girimonte and her great granddaughter, McKaylee Hope. She was also the sister of the Florence Caruso and the late Betty Rosenthal.

A Funeral Service will conducted at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Thursday February 24 at 10 am followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (www.komen.org).
