Obituary for Vincent Follo

Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather
Vincent Follo, of Bloomfield, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017. The son of the late Josephine (Camuso) & Joseph Follo, Vince was born and raised in Newark and attended Central and Barringer high schools. He worked at Charms Candy Company for 25 years, and then worked as a corrections officer in the Essex County Jail for 22 years. Vince was a featured singer with several local bands in the 1950s, including the Sonny Long Orchestra. He was inducted into the Metro-Newark Softball Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a manager in Men’s Fastpitch Softball. His passions included opera, baseball and horse racing. He was a huge Frank Sinatra fan and an even bigger New York Yankees fan.
The beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Santambrogio) Follo, he is survived by his children, Dr. Joseph M. Follo & his wife, Margret. Sharon Nicastro, Lori Tietjen & her husband John and John Kennedy Follo & his wife Cathy; four grandchildren, Christopher & Joseph Follo, Jr., Maria Phyllis Nicastro & Daniel Follo; and his sister, Lucille Albani.
The funeral service will take place at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
The interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society would be preferred.
