Obituary for Viola S. Greco (Sasso)
“Dedicated Wife, Mother, and Grandmother who gave her Unselfish Love”
Viola S. Greco, 97 of Nutley, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday May 21, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Leonardo and Nellie (Naturale) Sasso. Viola was raised in Belleville and moved to Nutley in 1957, where she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Along with being the Director of Nutley’s Midget Football Cheerleading Squad, Viola loved to cook and was an avid baker, enjoyed going to the casino, and was a big NY Yankees Fan. She was also an amateur Country and Western singer.
The beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Greco, she is survived by her children, Carol Greco Marquez, Valerie Greco Martin and her husband Maurice, Anthony R. “Ricky” Greco Sr. and his wife Michele, and Donna Greco Wexler and her husband Billy; a sister, Edith Krier; grandchildren, Amanda Marquez, Joseph Martin and his wife Alannah, Paula Di Vincenzo and her husband Joseph, Jessica LaPorte, Jeffrey Martin and his wife Sheryl, Anthony R. Greco Jr. and his wife Collette, and James LaPorte and his fiancée Jill Lawson; and 3 great-grandchildren, Bianca, Cameron, and Holly. Along with her husband and parents, Viola was predeceased by her siblings, Fay Gatto, Genevive Longo, Morris Sasso, William Sasso, Armand “Dutch” Sasso, and Raymond Sasso.
The funeral service and entombment for Viola at Glendale Cemetery and Mausoleum will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate, would be preferred.
