Obituary for William Richard Damm
Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather
William Richard Damm, passed away on April 29, 2023, at the age of 82. Bill was born in Brooklyn on October 11, 1940, to William F. Damm and Frances (Winscom) Damm. He lived in Glendale, Queens until moving to Nutley in 1952. Upon graduating high school, he found employment at the American Stock Exchange in New York City in 1958. This was the beginning of a successful 40-year career as a stockbroker.
It was during this time on the trading floor of the exchange that he met his wife Lynda (Rizzuto) Damm, the two were married in 1972. Bill had many interests throughout his life, but was extremely passionate about his career, his love of jazz music and above all his family, in particular his son Billy.
In retirement, Bill found a renewed joy and made many friends as Vice President of the Nutley Old Guard. He is survived by Lynda, his wife of 51 years, his adoring son William Tyler Damm, his grandson and namesake William Allan Damm and his loving daughter-in-law Amy Damm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 , 10:30am
At St. Mary’s Church, 17 Monsignor Owens Place, Nutley, NJ. There will be no visitation prior to mass time.
The interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair.
