Obituary for William A. Lupo

William A. Lupo, Sr, of Nutley, passed away on Monday October 21, 2013. Born in Orangeburg, NY, he was raised in East Rutherford and lived in Millington, before coming to Nutley in 1967. Mr. Lupo was a retried Phys Ed teacher with the Cedar Grove School System and member of the NJEA and had also coached football and wrestling at Cedar Grove. He was a member of the East Rutherford Football team from 1944 and was named team MVP in 1947. He was also selected First Team, All State Group 3 and second team All Group. He then played for Syracuse University and was name MVP in 1950 and was an All East Selection in 1951. In 1983, Mr. Lupo was inducted into the East Rutherford Athletic Hall of Fame “Honor Roll of Wildcat Greats”. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of VFW Post 493.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean M. (Napatano) Lupo. He is survived by his son, William A. Lupo, Jr. and his wife, Cindy and his daughter, Brenda Benimeo and her husband, Mario. He also leaves 5 grandchildren.
