Obituary for William M. Sim
Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great Grandfather
Retired Belleville Firefighter
William M. Sim, 87, of Belleville, passed away on January 10, 2022, at the NJ Firemen’s Home in Boonton. Born in Newark, he lived in Belleville, Toms River and West Orange before moving to the Firemen’s Home in 2018. William was the son of the late John James and Olive Isabelle (McClean) Sim. After graduating Belleville High School, William joined the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and served from 1952 through 1960. In 1957 he joined the Essex Fells Police Department, and then the Belleville Fire Department in 1958, before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Belleville FMBA #29, the Retired Police and Firefighters Association of Ocean County, and the Essex County Police and Fire Emerald Society. He was predeceased by his loving wife June R. (Phillips) Sim, brother John Sim, and sister Anne Yurchak. He leaves behind his son Scott Sim and his wife Maria, daughter Debra Bryan and her husband Robert, brother Robert Sim, and sister Barbara Yurchak. He also leaves his grandchildren Brendan Sim and his wife Nina, Morgan Sim and her wife Noelle Grande, Kelly Britton and her husband Sam, Sean Bryan, Daniel Bryan, Chelsea Bryan, and his great-grandson Liam Sim.
The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the Administration and Staff of the New Jersey Firemen’s Home for their exceptional care and compassion over the past 3 and a half years.
The funeral will be Saturday, January 15, 2021, from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, (www.swbrownandson.com), 267 Centre St., Nutley at 9:30am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley at 10:30am.
The entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 4-8pm
