Obituary for Albert Ostering

The rolling stream of life rolls on, but still the vacant chair,
Recalls the love, the voice, the smile, of the one who once sat there.
Albert Ostering, Sr., 85 years old, of Bloomfield, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, NJ after a long and heartbreaking illness. He was born in Newark, NJ to the late Clara and Joseph Ostering and lived the majority of his life in Nutley and Bloomfield, NJ. Albert worked in the dairy industry and retired from Farmland Dairies in Wallington, NJ in 1997.
Albert was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. He was predeceased by his parents, Clara and Joseph Ostering; his two wives, Dolores (nee Bernardo) and Vivian (nee Snyder); his brothers, Walter, Joseph, Robert, Charles, and Steve; his sisters Marian and Mary Ann. He is survived by his son Albert, Jr and his wife Laurie and their 5 sons Albert III, Timothy, Gregg, Adam and Michael and daughter Janice Blakeslee; his son Joseph and his wife Kim and their sons Paul, David and Shawn; his daughter Diane Ostering, his daughter Kathleen Villano and her husband Joseph, and his daughter Nicole Ostering and her significant other, Mike Malia, along with his two loving dogs, Molly and Murphy and his grand-dog Coco. He also is survived by 15 beautiful and precious great-grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews and very special neighbors and friends (notably Eileen, Olga, Shelbe, Tina, Susan and Jaclyn).
Last, but not least, we thank Dr. James Agresti Sr. and his office staff, Dr. Justin Pi, Dr. Marc Morresi and his wife Jennifer and Dr. Manar Al-Asad, in addition to the large number of nurses and respiratory therapists at the numerous hospitals he was at for their compassionate and personal care in treating our dad as if he was one of their family; there are no words to thank you enough.
Our father, Albert Ostering, Sr., was a very loving, generous and precious man of a generation long gone by and sorely missed. No one can replace his work ethic, his loving spirit, his charitable nature and his sense of humor. He will be missed each and every day of our lives. Our hearts are broken but we are at peace knowing how very lucky and blessed we were to call him “Dad” and have him with us all these years.
Services will be held on Friday, June 16th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home , 267 Centre Street, Nutley, NJ 07110, Phone 973-667-0875.
