Obituary for Donald R. Dente

Retired Educator, talented artist & classic car enthusiast
Donald R. Dente, 81, formerly of Nutley passed away on Sunday October 29, 2017 at home following a long history of dementia and brief battle with cancer. Born and raised in Nutley, NJ he was the son of the late Dominick Dente and Mary DiNorcia. After graduating from Nutley High School, he moved out West to Logan, Utah and pursued a career in education and administration. He was a walk on player for the Utah State University football team. He later served as a principal for many years and taught English and Drama for the Elko County School District. Don had a passion for painting and drawing and loved to fish and restore old Mustangs. He helped start a classic car club in Wells, Nevada where he resided for many years. Don had such a tender heart and was loved by many. He touched so many lives and his legacy will continue on through his family, friends and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son Timothy Dente. He is survived by his children, Donald B. Dente and his wife, Jolanda, Terri Dente, David Dente and his wife, Gwen, Douglas Dente, Brigit Petersen and her husband, Brock, Gina Jordan and her husband, Jamar and Amber Dente. He also leaves 32 grandchildren and his sisters, Rose Marie Simmons and her husband, Raymond and Barbara Lenoire and her husband, Bill.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Saturday at 9:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 10:30 am followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visiting will be on Friday from 4-8 pm.
