Obituary for Doris E. Verna
Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother
Doris E. Verna, of Nutley, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017. Born in Newark, the daughter of the late Francis & Stella (DeJianne) Flood, she lived in Newark prior to moving to Nutley over 50 years ago. For ten years, Doris worked as an executive secretary at Mouli Manufacturing and later as an underwriting administrator for Guardian Life Insurance in Clifton for 15 years. When her children were in grammar school, Doris worked for Kelly Girls performing temporary jobs at local companies. She learned to sew at Nutley Adult School and made clothing for her family. Doris also enjoyed cooking, especially for her grandson. She will be missed by her family as well as many lifelong friends
Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Thomas A. Verna; three daughters, Sr. Dorothy Verna, CSJP, Theresa Blauvelt & her husband, Kenneth and Kathleen Gluck & her husband, Michael; and her grandson, Michael Blauvelt.
Visitors will be received at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
The cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, would be preferred.
