Obituary for Elmo M. De La Cruz

U.S. Navy Veteran, Veterans Affairs Supervisor
Elmo M. De La Cruz of East Orange, passed away on Thursday September 28, 2017. Born in La Union, Philippines, he was the son of the late Jose and Emilia (Minimerito) De La Cruz. Mr. De La Cruz, lived in Orange, before coming to East Orange 38 years ago and was a supervisor with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Newark before retiring. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.
Elmo is survived by his beloved wife, Maria C. (Barroga) Delacruz, his daughters, Cynthia De La Cruz, Emily De La Cruz and Clarissa Rhodes and her husband, Barry and his grandson, Joseph Laine Rhodes. He was the dear brother of Manuel De La Cruz, Zenaida Vera, Josefina Elcano, Catalina De La Cruz and the late Wilfredo, Ulpiano and Renato De La Cruz and the late Barbara De La Cruz.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home on Thursday October 5th at 8:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church in East Orange at 10 am.
The cremation and committal at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover will be private.
Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday October 4 from 4-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be preferred.
