Emaline Palumbo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday with all her family, who adored her and will miss her dearly. “Aunt Em” as her family referred to her, was well known for her gift of sending handmade greeting cards, personalized and handwritten, to all her extended family, which totaled over 100. This was her way to extend her love, good wishes and humor to everyone in her family. It was also a reminder to us all, of the power of the written word to change the world, one card at a time. She enjoyed life, had a great sense of humor and was a devoted New York Yankees fan. She took great pride in her beautifully manicured lawn and flower gardens. Emaline was the daughter of the late Anthony Nigro and Filomena (Tarantino) Nigro, [birthmother-Ida Caporaso]. Beloved wife of the late Barbaro Palumbo. Prior to her recent years in an assisted-living residence in West Orange, Emaline was a resident of the town of Nutley, a member of Holy Family’s Altar Rosary Society, as well as a frequent volunteer at church events. She retired as an administrative worker for Empire Mutual Insurance Company, where she was employed for more than 10 years. Emaline is survived by her brother Anthony Nigro, and sisters, Louise Cassera and Sarah Scrudato. She is predeceased by her brothers Louis Nigro, Modestino Nigro, and sisters Virginia Salvetta, Annie Dimichino, Angelina Bellarosa and Stella Belli.

The funeral service and entombment at Glendale Cemetery and Mausoleum will be held privately.
