Obituary for Evelyn Ormston Kelly

Retired bank executive
Evelyn Ormston Kelly (Welsh) passed away Thursday morning, March 2nd, after suffering a series of strokes at the age of 91. She was a parishioner of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Kettering, Ohio and resided in Oakwood, Ohio close to her family. Evelyn was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, she graduated from high school, and worked for Bank of America, starting as a bank teller working up to Bank Executive. Evelyn enjoyed a long and successful career in banking until she retired after 40 years of service. Throughout her life, Evelyn gave much of her time, talent and treasure to Catholic Charity programs to aid the less fortunate in the United States and Canada. Evelyn was blessed to have found love twice. She married her first husband, Tom Ormston, in 1961 and enjoyed 16 years of marriage until his passing in 1977. Evelyn married her second husband, John Kelly, in 1993 and had a wonderful, long marriage of 20 years until John’s passing in 2013.
Evelyn was preceded by both her husbands and her parents Frank and Loretta Welsh and a brother Norman Welsh & his wife Stella.
Evelyn is survived by seven nieces and nephews: Thomas Welsh, Carolyn Welsh Noonan & her husband Thomas and their children Colleen and Robert, William Welsh & his wife wife Lea and David Welsh & his wife Sandy and their children Ryan and Jamie, Debra Ormston, Kevin May and Anita May. Evelyn, Deborah Ormston, Kevin May & his wife, Kathy and Anita (May) Bush & her husband, John. In addition, Evelyn is survived by 3 step-children, Mary Besner & her husband Brian, Liz Fox and Daniel Kelly. Evelyn was blessed to have 6 step grandchildren Sarah, Aaron, Kevin, Rebecca, and Katherine & her husband Darcy and step great grandchildren are Dylan, Cassidy, Jayce, Diana and Benjamin.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, March 8th at 8:30 to 10:30 A.M at S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St. Nutley followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley at 10:45.
The burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Arlington, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to various catholic charities for the homeless and retired priests and nuns.
