Obituary for James J. Reilly

Past Deputy Grand Marshall of St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Merchant Marine veteran
James J. Reilly of Belleville, passed away on Wednesday March 14, 2018. Born in Montclair, he was the son of the late James J. and Katherine (Shanley) Reilly. Mr. Reilly was an accountant with Flinkote Corp. in Rochelle Park before retiring and was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #121. He was a proud member of the Order of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh West Orange Chapter and was named Deputy Grand Marshall of the West Orange St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2008. He was also a volunteer at Mountainside Hospital, served as an Usher at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley and was a member of the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Council 2346. Predeceased by his beloved wife, E. Muriel (Atkinson), he is survived by his sister, Cathleen Shaughnessy. He was also predeceased by his sister, Mary Reilly Coronato.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Saturday March 17 at 9:45 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley at 10:45 am followed by burial at St. Peter’s Church Cemetery in Belleville.
Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm.
