Obituary for Jerome R. Cerrato

Retired teacher, U.S. Army veteran
Jerome R. Cerrato, 85 of Belleville, passed away on Saturday September 9, 2017. Born and raised in Newark, he was the son of the late Ralph and Jennie (Adessa) Cerrato. Mr. Cerrato came to Belleville over 35 years ago and was teacher with the City of Passaic Board of Education for 37 years before retiring. He was a member of the NJEA, the Knights of Columbus, taught CCD at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was also a proud U.S. Army veteran. Along with his parents, Jerome was predeceased by his brother Ralph Cerrato and his sister, Katherine Foote. He was the dear uncle of Loraine Latteri, William Foote III, Kenneth Foote, Michael and Joseph Cerrato and the late William Cerrato. He also leaves 12 great nieces and nephews and 3 great, great nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St. Nutley on Thursday September 14 at 9 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Nutley at 10 am followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Army Emergency Relief (www.aerhq.org)
