Obituary for John Genitempo

“Retired Printer”
John Genitempo, The “Silver Fox”, of Nutley, passed away on Wednesday February 28, 2018 with his children by his side. Born in Newark, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Scarpelli) Genitempo. Mr. Genitempo lived in Belleville before moving to Nutley 60 years ago. John worked in the printing industry for 50 years, former owner of Cardinal Lithograph NYC, Fox Lithograph NYC, and Gull Graphics in Paramus. He retired in 2002 from Sandy Alexander Clifton. He was a graduate of Essex County Vocational High School and was a volunteer fireman in Union Beach. John served in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1965 and was also a member of The Old Guard of Nutley.
He was predeceased by his wife Clare (Murphy) Genitempo and his brother Richard. He is survived by his children John Thomas, Alan & his wife Jo Ann, Karen, Steven & his wife Jacqueline; his sisters Marie, Rose English & her husband Edward, a sister-in-law Josephine Marinetti and his grandchildren; Alan M., Anthony, Jessica, Matthew, Tyler & Connor. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and very special friends.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley at 10:30a.m.
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to John’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
