Obituary for John A. Veiga

A True Family Man
John A. Veiga, of Elizabeth, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Born in Havana, Cuba, the son of the late Juan & Alicia (Rodriguez) Veiga, he grew up in Bloomfield and lived in Kearny and Newark prior to moving to Elizabeth 35 years ago. He retired from Farmland Dairies in Wallington as a pasteurizer. Previously, he worked in the Quality Control Department at Ambrosia Chocolate Co. in Newark. He will be remembered as a hard working family man and a great cook.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita M. (Ripoll) Veiga; 2 sons, Vincent John & his wife, Barbara and Nicholas John & his wife, Jenny and his 5 grandchildren, Noah Mark, Jake Anthony, Lilah Ann, Matthew Hamish & James Halsey. John was also the brother of Maria Pearson & her husband, Dr. Steve and Alicia Manfredini and her late husband, Sergio; the uncle of Liza, Danny, Kevin, Shannon, Alicia, Kelly, Kris & Paco; and the brother-in-law of Conchita & her husband, Danny and Roberto & his wife, Alba.
The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark at 10 a.m.
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Gift of Life Family House 401 Callowhill St, Philadelphia, PA 19123 would be preferred.
