Obituary for Joseph Cocchiola

Dedicated educator, counselor and administrator with the Nutley Board of Ed. for 36 years
Joseph Cocchiola, a lifelong resident of Nutley, passed away on Monday August 31, 2015. Mr. Cocchiola was employed with the Nutley Board of Education for 36 years. He began his career in education as a physical education teacher in the elementary schools, and then health at Nutley Junior High before becoming a guidance counselor and retiring as Vice Principal of Nutley High School. Joseph was a also an Army veteran and member of the Forest Hill Field Club. His is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Dale I. (Wanner) Cocchiola, his children, Robin Bulzacchelli and Glenn J. Cocchiola and wife Jackie and 6 grandchildren. He was the son of the late Gabriel and Mary (Verrico) Cocchiola and brother of Mario Cocchiola and the late Albert Cocchiola.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, Nutley on Thursday September 3 at 8:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley at 9:30 am followed by burial at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday September 2 from 4-8 pm.
