Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather
Joseph “Red” Vitiello, of Belleville, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018. Born in Newark, he was the son of the late Antonia (Melillo) and Gerardo Vitiello and spent most of his life in Belleville. He retired from the Township of Belleville DPW as a machine operator. He was a member of the Italian Fiorente Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores (Cafone) Vitiello; his children, Joseph Vitiello Jr. & his wife Joanna, Daniel Vitiello & his wife Joyce, Linda Pizzi & her husband Joseph, and Richard Vitiello & his wife Suzanne; his brother-in-law Rocco Cafone & his wife Eleanor and his sisters-in-law, Dolores & Hannelore Vitiello and Nancy Cancelliere; his grandchildren, Lauren Fazio, Daniel Vitiello Jr. & his wife April, Jillian Bertolini & her husband Robert, Joseph Pizzi Jr., & his wife Ashley, Matthew, Morgan, and Justin Vitiello; his great-grandchildren, Giuliana & Michael Fazio, and Logan Vitiello. He was also loved by many of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral will be Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue in Nutley.
The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital or Holy Family Church would be preferred.
