Obituary for Marie R. Mc Connon

Retired Nurse’s Aide
Marie Regina McConnon, affectionately and reverently known by all her loved ones as “Mimi”, died peacefully surrounded by her beloved children on December 10, 2017. Her foundational faith and love for her family were clearly the source of strength in her life and especially in her final days. Born in Pittston, PA, the daughter of the late Margaret (McCarthy) & John Mullery, she lived in Newark prior to moving to Belleville.
She was married to James R McConnon for 54 years before his passing in August 1998 and spent her life honoring God’s will for her as a dedicated and loving Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, not to forget, Rosie the Riveter, President Emeritus of St. Peters Rosarians, and a compassionate, fun-loving and loyal friend to all who were blessed to know her. She touched so many with her laughter and constant acts of selflessness. Marie is survived by her two siblings, Joe and Louise, and her six children, Regina, JP, Kathy, Michael, John, and Joey. Her legacy lives on through them, her 24 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
Marie is undoubtedly laughing and dancing with her children and family who have gone before her. Her beloved Parents Marguerite & John, Husband James, Daughters Marie and Margaret, Siblings Jack, Harry, Billy, Marguerite, and Frankie.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church in Belleville on Thursday at 10 a.m. There will be a viewing at the Church from 9 a.m. until mass time.
The interment will follow at St. Peter’s Church Cemetery.
Visitors will also be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Peter’s Church of Belleville or the Rosary Society as these was very important to Marie throughout her life.
