Obituary for Marie Vicchiariello

Named Nutley Woman of the Year 2017
Marie Vicchiariello, of Nutlety, passed away on October 16, 2017. Born in Passaic, the daughter of the late George & Frances (Demma) DeLizio she was a lifelong resident of Nutley. The mother of the late Anthony G. “Vic” Vicchiariello, she is survived by her husband, Louis A. Vicchiariello. Marie had been a professional insurance agent for 39 years and was the Nutley Township Risk Manager with C. Walter Searle Insurance Agency in Nutley. A graduate of Montclair State University and the Atlantic School of Business, she is also the president and owner of her own music company, AV Musical Production Inc., and the author and publisher of “Mr. G Clef and Friends,” which teaches young children about musical instruments and their sounds. Marie originally wrote this as a play and performed it throughout all the nursery and grammar schools in Nutley. There are two sequels to “Mr. G Clef now awaiting publication.
Marie was born in Passaic and raised in Nutley. She has great pride for her community and her Italian heritage. Both her grandparents came from Italy and taught her a lot about family and Italian values, which Marie has instilled in her own family, continuing Italian traditions. Marie had been involved in many service organizations, including: The National Kidney Foundation, Women’s Federation of World Peace, Italian American Alliance and The Nutley Republican Club. She has served as vice chairwoman of the Nutley County Committee, as vice chairwoman of the Essex County Republican Committee, and was elected an officer of the State Committee of Woman of Essex County. Marie had previously served on the Nutley Columbus Day Parade Committee and is past parade chairwoman. She was responsible for starting the homemade wine competition with more than 70 wine entries, and sold more than 300 tickets. The funds raised helped to defray the cost of hosting the Italian police for the Columbus Day Parade.
Marie had also been involved with the Nutley Red Cross, the Cerebral Palsy Board of Directors, the Abused Woman and Children’s Center, and the Holy Family Rosary Society. She was a past president of the Tri- Town Business Women’s Club of Nutley and Belleville, and of the Nutley Junior Woman’s Club; she was a past vice president of the Nutley Woman’s Club.
Through her dedication of outstanding volunteer and service to the township and the state, she had earned numerous prestigious awards, including: the Nutley Jaycees Distinguished Outstanding Young Adult Award, Nutley Young Republican Leadership Award, Nutley Public Library Women’s History Month of the Year Award, New Jersey Federation of Woman’s Clubs Honor Roll inductee, Honorary Distinguished Community Service Award from the American Association of University of Woman, Women’s Federation of World Peace Woman Ambassador of the Year Award, New Jersey Order of Merit for Outstanding work on the GOP level, Essex County Lifetime Achievement Award and the Essex County Republican Volunteer of the Year. Marie was proud of all her accomplishments both in business and in the service organizations he has been involved with over the years.
The funeral will be Friday October 20 at 9:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley at 10:30 a.m.
The entombment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-8 p.m.
