Obituary for Mary Aliotta

Expert horse trainer & animal lover
Mary Aliotta (nee Ricca), 93 of Belleville passed away peacefully on Thursday February 15, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends.
After High School and Business School, Mary began her lifelong love of animals as an expert horse trainer and rider at the Bellwood Riding Academy which was a family owned business. She participated as a rider with Slicker her beloved horse in many parades and exhibitions throughout the region. Soon after marrying, Mary and her husband Vic founded, owned and operated the Bellwood Kennels. Their business was established in 1958 and closed in 2003. Retired from work but not life, Mary continued her generosity and caring as evidenced by her involvement with the Fewsmith Crocheters; a group that donates hand-made blankets for local charities. Together Mary and Vic spent their lifetimes reaching out to anyone in need of love and support.
Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great, great nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Victor in 2012. She was also predeceased by her mother and father, Concetta (Montone) and Nicholas Ricca, sister, Geraldine Colallio, and brothers, John, Mark, Louis, Tony and Joseph Ricca.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St. Nutley on Tuesday February 20 at 11 am.
The interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
In lieu of flowers: donations to Fewsmith Memorial Presbyterian Church 444 Union Ave. Belleville, NJ. 07109 in Mary’s memory would be appreciated.
