Obituary for Michael Ritacco

Retired Nutley Fire Captain, Proud World War II veteran
Michael Ritacco of Nutley, passed away on Thursday March 23, 2017. A lifelong resident of Nutley, he was son of the late Pasquale and Carmella (Gulla) Ritacco. Mr. Ritacco began his career with the Nutley Fire Department in 1957 and retired in 1987 at the rank of Captain. Michael was a Nutley all-state football and baseball player, was the last surviving member of the 1940 State Championship Football team and was inducted into the Nutley Third Half Club Hall of Fame. He was also a proud Army veteran of World War II, serving in England and then in France and Germany during the Rhineland campaign. He is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Adelaide (Caruso) Ritacco, his sons, Michael J. Ritacco, Pat Ritacco and his wife, Linda and was predeceased by his daughters, Cora Timchak and Linda M. Ritacco. He also leaves his son-in-law, Alan E. Timchak, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Michael was the dear brother of the late Blasi Ritacco, Christine Sensale and Betty Mastandrea.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St. Nutley on Monday March 27 at 8:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 9:30 am followed by burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.
Visiting will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-6 pm.
