Obituary for Nicholas D. DiGiacomo

Advertising & Sales Manager and Softball Instructor
Nicholas D. DiGiacomo of Nutley passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Born in Jersey City, the son of the late Nicola & Eleanor (Costanzo) DiGiacomo, Nick lived in North Arlington prior to moving to Nutley 38 years ago. In 2004, he retired from Mace Brothers Fine Furniture in Kearny, where he was Advertising & Sales Manager. After his retirement, Nick pursued his love of baseball as a softball instructor at Lefty’s Sports Academy in Clifton. He was also a volunteer coach with the Nutley High School Girls Softball Team, a member of Unico, and an avid Yankees fan. Additionally in his spare time Nick pursued his other great love, horse racing, through partnerships with Kenwood Racing. Nick is survived by his loving wife, Lynn (Coccio) DiGiacomo; two daughters, Dana DiGiacomo of North Arlington and Lauren Weeks (son-in-law Thomas Weeks) of Bayonne; and his sister and brother-in-law, Janet Russo & her husband Robert. Nick was a caring Godfather to Dina Caiola. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Chris and Laurie Coccio and Paul Giordano, and a dear uncle to his many loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his many loyal and caring friends.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 7 at 9:30 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley at 10:30 a.m.
The cremation and entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington will be held privately at a later date.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Monday, November 6 from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society would be greatly appreciated.
