Obituary for Richard J. Ward

Retired truck driver, devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Richard J. Ward, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday February 18, 2018. Born in Newark, he was the son of the late Joseph and Viola (Marcelli) Ward. Mr. Ward lived in Lake Hopatcong before coming to Bloomfield 16 years ago and was a truck drive with Teamsters Local #408 in Union before retiring. During his retirement, Richard worked part-time at Ray Catena Mercedes in Union.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan (Cofone) Ward, his loving children, Joseph Ward and his wife, Joanna, Gina Possumato and her husband,­­­­­ Richard and his grandchildren, Anthony, Alexandria, Gabriella and Adriana.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St. Nutley on Friday February 23 at 9 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Nutley at 10 am.
The cremation services will be private.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Liver Foundation would be preferred.
