Obituary for Roy H. Stoeckel

Roy H. Stoeckel, Sr., of Nutley, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Born in Kearny, the son of the late Whilimina (Wetzel) & Oscar E. Stoeckel, he lived in Kearny prior to moving to Nutley 58 years ago. He retired as an engineer with the United States Government Department of Defense at Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, NJ. Previously, he worked with United Technologies in Harrison and was a former member of the Professional Engineers Association of New Jersey. Roy was an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was also a long time communicant at Grace Episcopal Church in Nutley, NJ.
The beloved husband of the late Patricia (Campbell) Stoeckel, he is survived by his children, Roy H. Stoeckel, Jr., Patricia M. Lockwood, Elisabeth Wharton & Rev. Audrey Hasselbrook; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was also predeceased by his brother, Melvin O. Stoeckel.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 200 Highfield Lane in Nutley at 10 a.m.
The scattering will immediately follow in the Grace Church Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Grace Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 200 Highfield Lane, Nutley, NJ 07110 would be preferred.
