Obituary for Stephen Sawruk

World War II Navy Veteran
Stephen Sawruk, of Belleville, formerly of Nutley, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Stella (Kostra) Sawruk; two sons, Stephen Douglas & his wife Susan and Dean William Sawruk, Sr.; two granddaughters, Christine & Tammy, and his brother, Joseph Barski. He was predeceased by his grandson, Dean William Sawruk, Jr.; four sisters & four brothers.
Stephen was a World War II Navy Veteran and earned 14 Battle Stars while serving in the Pacific on the Aircraft Carrier USS Cowpens.
He worked until he was 75 years of age as a truck driver with Allstate Paper Box Co. in Newark,. He was an usher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Nutley.
Steve is survived by many nieces & nephews throughout the United States, Canada & Puerto Rico.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St., Nutley. at 9am.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Nutley at 10 a.m.
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m.
