Obituary for Teresa Verdi

Secretary to the Principal at Nutley High School
Mary Teresa Verdi, of Ridgewood, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2017 at her home. Born in Belleville, the daughter of the late Giovanni & Adelina Martello, she grew up in Belleville and lived most of her life in Nutley prior to moving to Ridgewood 5 years ago.
Teresa was an administrative Secretary with the Nutley Board of Education, retiring as the Secretary to the Principal at Nutley High School. She was past President of the Mount St. Mary Guild a former Cub Scout & Girl Scout Leader at Lincoln School and was active in many other organizations.
The beloved wife of the late Pasquale J. Verdi, she is survived by her children, Carl Verdi and & wife, Ann, Adele Higgins & her husband, Marty and her grandchildren, Dr. Patrick Higgins & his fiancée, Fernanda, Marty Higgins & his wife, Jodi, Michael Higgins & his wife, Lori, Kimberly DeJianne & her husband, Michael, Kevin Verdi & his wife, Kirsten and David Verdi & his wife, Jill. She also leaves 16 great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by 3 sisters.
The funeral will be from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home 267 Centre St. Nutley on Thursday July 6 at 8:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 9:30 am
The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington
Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday July 5 from 4-8 pm.
