Obituary for William J. Fitzsimmons

William J. Fitzsimmons, 85 of Belleville, passed away on May 30, 2015. Born and raised in Newark, he was a resident of Belleville for over 60 years. Mr. Fitzsimmons was manager with Wakefern Food Corp. in Secaucus before retiring and had previous been employed at Breyer’s Ice Cream in Newark. He attended Bloomfield College and was a member of the Roseland Amateur Radio Club, the Military Auxiliary Radio System and the American Legion. Bill was also a member of the Army National Guard earning retirement status at the rank of Captain.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary A. (York) Fitzsimmons, he is survived by his son Michael Fitzsimmons, his daughter, Carol Concepcion and his grandchildren, Stephanie Fabian and Valerie and Angela Concepcion and his great grandchildren, Alani, Jonah and Mateo. He also leaves his brother, Michael Fitzsimmons, his sister, Karen Cawthorne and was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Riggin.
Funeral from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, Nutley on Friday June 5 at 9:45.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley at 10:45 am followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, June 4 from 6-9 pm.
