Obituary for William J. Smith

Proud World War II Navy-Seabees Veteran
William J. Smith, of Manahawkin, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Born in Bloomfield, the son of the late William Joseph & Helen (Connelly) Smith, he lived in Belleville prior to moving to Manahawkin 23 years ago. Before his retirement in 1985, he was the owner of Woodside Service station in Newark for 34 years. A U.S. Navy – Seabees veteran of World War II, he was a member of the NRA and an active skeet shooter.
The loving husband of the late Carolyn F. (George) Smith, he is survived by his sons, William J. Smith, Jr. & Robert W. Smith; two grandchildren, Marissa & Jessica and his brother, Joseph V. Smith.
The services and interment at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield will be held privately.
