Alexis Michele Lelio, age 28 of Brick/Belleville, NJ left this world too soon on July 24, 2020.

“She was a tornado, violent but beautiful at the same time.” A statement that so accurately depicts her. She was a force to be reckoned with- a strong-willed and fearless, beautiful soul who loved her family with every ounce of her heart. Alexis left behind such a unique legacy- having always been known as the crazy, unpredictable, amazing spirit who made living life to the fullest appear effortless. Alexis had a heart of gold with an immense passion for helping animals. As a K9 trainer and animal rescuer, she dedicated her life and energy to save all living beings no matter how big or small.

Alexis is survived by her loving Mother, Michele Lelio and co-parent Delizia (Dee) Pannullo, her siblings Michael, Tyler, Nikki, and Zachary. She is greatly missed by her doggy daughters Betsy and Sienna and her many other rescue animals. She is rejoined with her soulmate, Christopher Galvin.

Also, her beloved grandparents Eleanor and the late Michael Lelio, her aunts Carol, Elaine and Linda, and her cousins Kristin, Pete, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Makenzie, Nicholas, Gabriella, Pietro, Dominic, Marco, Anthony, Carlo, and Frankie.

Alexis’ final act was to give the gift of life through organ donation.

Alexis lived by this Hunter S. Thompson quote: “One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.”

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the animal rescue center.

My beloved Alexis would have celebrated her 29th birthday most likely in a fun-filled, bold and memorable way. Truth is that she lived each day grateful and genuinely excited about simple things like getting new sneakers and playing with her dog, Betsy.
Alexis embraced the world so lovingly, easily and inquisitively. She had an enormous loving and generous spirit, a heart of gold that touched the lives of so many people. Some of you know Alexis collected and distributed supplies for homeless folks. She also rescued hundreds of animals and matched them to forever homes.
My baby girl was smart, loyal, considerate, fearless and hard-working. She rarely complained and didn't ask for much. Her passions in life centered around family, justice and service.
Alexis suffered an asthma attack with cardiac arrest last month which lead to immediate and irreversible brain damage due to lost of oxygen. Alexis’ final act was to give the gift of life through organ donation. She's now reunited with her boyfriend who passed earlier this year, and with her beloved Papa.
The universe blessed me with the honor and privilege of having Alexis in my life, and I'm a better person because of this sweet child of mine. Shine on, babygirl! You were always good enough.

Alexis, I was so sad to hear that you are no longer with us. We have a lot of great pictures from elementary school, and memories from middle and high school too! My dad used to always laugh when you would call him “Mr. Arlene’s Father” whenever he picked us up or dropped us off somewhere. You were always such a crazy, free spirit, and always so fun and kind to everyone.

My heart and prayers go out to your family.
Rest In Peace ❤️
