Obituary

Alexis Michele Lelio, age 28 of Brick/Belleville, NJ left this world too soon on July 24, 2020.

“She was a tornado, violent but beautiful at the same time.” A statement that so accurately depicts her. She was a force to be reckoned with- a strong-willed and fearless, beautiful soul who loved her family with every ounce of her heart. Alexis left behind such a unique legacy- having always been known as the crazy, unpredictable, amazing spirit who made living life to the fullest appear effortless. Alexis had a heart of gold with an immense passion for helping animals. As a K9 trainer and animal rescuer, she dedicated her life and energy to save all living beings no matter how big or small.

Alexis is survived by her loving Mother, Michele Lelio and co-parent Delizia (Dee) Pannullo, her siblings Michael, Tyler, Nikki, and Zachary. She is greatly missed by her doggy daughters Betsy and Sienna and her many other rescue animals. She is rejoined with her soulmate, Christopher Galvin.

Also, her beloved grandparents Eleanor and the late Michael Lelio, her aunts Carol, Elaine and Linda, and her cousins Kristin, Pete, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Makenzie, Nicholas, Gabriella, Pietro, Dominic, Marco, Anthony, Carlo, and Frankie.

Alexis’ final act was to give the gift of life through organ donation.

Alexis lived by this Hunter S. Thompson quote: “One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.”

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the animal rescue center.

Alexis, I was so sad to hear that you are no longer with us. We have a lot of great pictures from elementary school, and memories from middle and high school too! My dad used to always laugh when you would call him “Mr. Arlene’s Father” whenever he picked us up or dropped us off somewhere. You were always such a crazy, free spirit, and always so fun and kind to everyone.

My heart and prayers go out to your family.
Rest In Peace ❤️

Alexis was truly unique. Experienced life on her terms. She lives deep within us like the roots of a blossoming tree .

Words cannot express the heartbreak I feel right now. Yesterday I lost my big sister. The most selfless, crazy, kind-hearted person. A force of nature with quirky energy and a free spirit. Thank you for years of great memories, endless laughs, and love and support. I’ve never met a person more willing to put all others before herself, including the tons of animals you rescued. Even in your last moment you were able to give the gift of life through organ donation. I find solace in the fact that your spirit will not only live on through our family, but that a part of you can live on in others. To say your presence will be missed is a vast understatement. Rest in peace my beautiful sister. I love you so much.
